Reaching Out to Refugees in Sidon

“Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.” (Matthew 15:21)

Sidon, Lebanon, is one of the oldest cities in Lebanon. It was where Jesus met the Canaanite woman and healed her daughter (Matthew 15:21-28).  Sidon where Jesus said to the Canaanite woman: “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” (Matthew 15:28)

Nowadays, we believe that a lot of people would have a great faith in Jesus in Sidon if we minister to them. Therefore, MELM is doing the Lord work in Sidon through helping the people there and especially the refugees. MELM has helped previously, a school for Syrian refugees in Sidon, by granting them tables and chairs so that the refugee students can use for studying.

Recently, MELM helped fulfilling the refugee students and their families’ need by providing them food packages. The families were very thankful, and appreciated the help they got. Through good acts people see and touch that Jesus loves them and care for them. Through good acts the non-Christian would open their hearts and ears to listen to the salvation message of Christ.

A Light to Bring Revelation to The Gentiles

For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,  A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles…(Luke 2: 30-31)

The Light was revealed to gentiles thousands of years ago, it is when Jesus came to earth, took our human flesh and was born. This great real story goes on, it is the flambeau we carry from generation to generation using different ways and tools to spread it.

Media is a very effective tool to reach out people and specially children to Christ. MELM has several Media tools such as the DVDs and kids’ books which help us reach out to them in every occasion. Congregations are still asking us to visit their centers and show the Christmas DVDS to kids. Therefore, MELM visited the “Home of kids” Orphanage, in Masourieh-Lebanon, were we showed the “Puzzle Club Christmas Mystery”, in which the kids learned about the chance that God gives us through Jesus, to be saved and repented. Also the kids learned how to pray and ask Jesus to be their Guide, and to ask Him for forgiveness. The kids were very happy to take their Christmas gift the DVD storybook.

Proclaiming The Kingdom of Heaven

“I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 8:11)

The kingdom of God is formed of people from different nations and tongues. Our mission is to preach to all kind of people, adult and young, small or big, tall or short, and red or yellow… Therefore, MELM prepared a Christmas program for refugees’ kids living in Dikwane region suburbs of Beirut. The program was full of activities in which they enjoyed a Christmas story of the “Three Trees” in which they learned how we could be an instrument in the hands of God to serve His glory. Also, they watched the “Red Boots for Christmas” movie in which they learned about the real Christmas meaning. There was also an illustrated Christmas dance that the kids enjoyed performing it. After the program the kids had enjoyed the Christmas lunch that was prepared for them. Many kids prayed asking Jesus to forgive their wrong doings, and be their savior.

Red Boots For Christmas

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.(Isaiah 9:6)

During Christmas season MELM visited schools in Ashrafieh-Lebanon where we shared a devotion with the students and showed them the “Red Boots for Christmas” movie. It was the right time for students to understand the real meaning of Christmas and appreciate the Love of God manifested through the ultimate gift for us Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The students enjoyed the movie and were happy to receive the movie story book as a gift.
