Explaining the Meaning of Easter to Druz

And they sang a new song, saying: …because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” (Revelation 5:9)

It is still Easter season in our region since in Middle East this year we celebrate Easter twice because Eastern Orthodox Churches celebrate Easter on a different date than the Western calendar. MELM finds it a great opportunity to reach out to youth and children who rarely hear about Jesus. What a blessing to have the chance to witness to people from different religions. Therefore our target this week was the “Druz” kids who mainly live in specific area called Al Jabal it is close to a district that contains many villages in the mountain. Druz is a non-Christian sect, who believes in reincarnation, the soul never leaves the earth. It leaves the body when someone dies to reincarnate in another body that might be a human body or animal and life goes on in different shapes…

MELM prepared a program for Druz’ Children organized with the Druz community leaders and volunteers. The program was divided into two parts. One for the kids of 6 years old and younger and the other part was for the kids 7 years old and up. The program was full of activities, there was short sketch teach the kids that we only conquer the sin in prayer through Jesus Christ who gives us the power to do so. Also the program included face painting to the younger kids and some games; whereas the older kids watched Puzzle Club Easter adventure and enjoyed it. Discussing what the resurrection means was new for these kids to hear, it was new for some of them to hear about Jesus and why He died and was raised from death. They were happy to know the truth about Jesus and we had the chance to give each one of them Puzzle Club Easter Adventure story book in addition to a Bible that suits their age. Also they enjoyed the juice and cakes they had after the program.
