Reaching out 5000 People through SMS

Most of the people in the country believe in the Guardian Angels, but many of those have a distorted image in their minds of the truth about Angles. Some people care about angles more than they care about God. Therefore, to enlighten their minds, the MELM prepared a text message that has been sent to 5000 people offering “The Truth about Angels” booklet which is based on the Biblical teaching. Many people have been contacting us asking about the booklet, and ordering it. The booklet has been sent to everyone who ordered it with an enrollment track for Bible Correspondence Courses, encouraging people to learn more about the Word of God and the Biblical truth.

Reaching out Syrian Refugees Women in their Tents in Bikaa Valey

One million, one eighty three thousand, three hundred twenty seven (1,183,327) registered Syrian refugees, women and children make up three-quarters of the refugee population, as United Nation recent statistics. In addition to this number, more than three hundred thousand entered Lebanon illegally and are not registered with the United Nations. The vast majority of these 1.5 million refugees are dependent on aid, arriving with little more than the clothes on their backs.

MELM heard the voice of the needy, and has been supporting the refugees with food and basic necessities for many months through generous donations of the donors.

The Syrian women refugees confront a difficult and challenging situation in Lebanon. This is clear in the report of ‘The International Rescue Committee’ (IRC) which identified three main challenges facing Syrian female refugees; first, the daily reality of sexual exploitation and harassment; second, the increase in domestic violence which makes them feel that their homes and tents are not places of refuge; and third, early and forced marriage in the context of displacement and dwindling resources.”

Among all that suffering MELM found the need not only to distribute food but also to take care of their spiritual and social life. Therefore, we visited a Syrian refugees camp in bikaa where “Em Mohamad” (a nickname means Mother of Mohamad) the camp chief welcomed us and invited us to her tent.

There we shared our prepared program with 35 Syrian women refugees who live in tents as well. These women when they heard about Jesus love and His respect to women in the Bible, Jesus healed many forgave many and changed hearts of many, Jesus wants to change their hearts if they believe in Him, They opened their hearts, and shared their sad stories about their situations. How they were forced to abandon everything to escape war and how it was difficult to leave their country Syria and all their possession behind to become refugees in Lebanon. While they were living in their houses, now they live in tents; they used to have good jobs, some were teachers, secretaries, factory employees, now they are jobless, and if they find a job, it will be in the fields as farmers where they pick vegetables during the harvest times treated like slaves, and get paid 4$ per day as they told us. Tears were shed as they expressed their pain hoping one day they could go back to their country and live in their homes again.

After such a session nothing could ease the hearts except prayers so we prayed putting their requests in the hand of the Lord, believing that He is listening. During the spiritual time, and since some of the women were illiterate, we distributed to them the recorded Bible on mp3 in Arabic language in addition to Christian hymns so that they may listen to the Word of God by the earphones. After all, nothing could heal their wounds except listening to God’s Word which works through the Holy Spirit in hearts. Also everyone who carry a cellphone was donated the mobile memory card that contains the recorded Bible.

Holistic Ministry to Syrian Refugees

Jesus said: “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world….let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16)

The verses above inform us that Jesus holds us responsible for our mission to the world. Syrian refugees were forced to leave their country and all their processions behind, but they should not feel ignored or left alone. They escaped the destructive civil war and are currently living in tents, experiencing below average humane conditions.

MELM is reaching out to these families and we are providing the men, women and kids all the necessary basic type of food and milk that help their survival. When we go to the Bekaa valley (which is very close to the Syrian borders) and arrive to the camps of the Syrian refugees we are welcomed with a big smile, as they realize and appreciate our hand of help for their miserable condition.  MELM with the generous gifts of donors was capable to donate hundreds of food packages to the refugees that will last for two weeks.

MELM visited the Syrian refugees who live in camps made of tents in the Bekaa valley. MELM distributed food packages; each package was given to each family contained 3 kg of rice, 3 kg of wheat groats (bergol), 2 kg of sugar, 2 liters of oil, tomato sauce, 4 potions of pasta, 2 portion of Tuna fish, 2 portions of sardine, 2 portions of cheese, meat cans, Halawa, Foul, beans and salt.

They were very grateful of what they received and appreciated our ministry of compassion to them, hoping we visit them again to provide more help and assistance.

Reaching out Nabaa Children

Nabaa is a very poor area located in the suburbs of Beirut. Syrian refugees found Nabaa as refuge place to live in because it is a cheaper area than other places. Therefore we find a large Islamic Syrian population living in Nabaa in addition to other nationalities like Armenians and Lebanese. Nabaa faces chronic unemployment, a lack of social services, and suffers from high levels of insecurity. Local residents are at risk of criminality, drug use, and sexual exploitation.

MELM visited a center in Nabaa called Hope for the nations where we shared with the children the Bible message through Puzzle Club Easter adventure Dvd show, Christian songs, and games. The children learned about Jesus’ love, His salvation plan and the reason He was crucified, died, and in the third day was risen. Resurrection means life through Jesus Christ if we believe in Him. The children enjoyed the programs, they were touched, and many of them prayed asked Jesus to save their soul and be the Lord of their hearts. They felt happy and blessed to get the Puzzle Club Easter adventure book story as a gift. We pray that the seed we planted in the hearts of these Children grow and bring fruits to the glory of God.
