Jesus The True Joy

Due to the successful play we have been performing at different places during the holidays’ season,  MELM is still receiving requests and invitations to perform the play at their congregations. Therefore we performed the “The Puzzle Missing Piece” play at Sehayle church- Keserwan, Lebanon. The audience was from different religious backgrounds; they enjoyed the play and happily interacted with it. The message touched their hearts and they prayed asking Jesus to fill their hearts with His Joy and presence. Also they were very happy to get a Bible book story “Three Presents for Baby Jesus” as a gift.

Reaching Out to Syrian Refugees’ Kids

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:17-20 (NIV)) The word of God teaches us to care and love the people who are in need, and MELM is obeying His word by fulfilling the material and spiritual needs of the refugees who came from Syria. Planting the seed of faith in the hearts of these refugees’ kids, teaching them about Jesus the one and the only hope for their salvation, make it a great mission to fulfill. MELM visited a center for refugees kids in Fanar, Lebanon, where we performed the play of “The Puzzle Missing Piece” which aim to teach the kids that there is no gift other than Jesus (The Puzzle Missing Piece) can fill our hearts with true joy and happiness because He is the Lord, the Savior the hope and the purpose of our lives. The kids understood the message very well and with an open heart every one of them bowed and prayed asking Jesus to save him/her and be the Lord of their lives. In addition they joyfully sang the song “Read Your Bible and Pray Every Day You Will Grow…” Also everyone of them got a Bible book story “Three Presents for Baby Jesus” as a gift. Holistic Outreach to Syrian Refugees in Desperate situations

After the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has now passed one and a half million, and where some villages, especially near the border, have refugees that now outnumber the Lebanese residents. On January 1st, 2015, the Lebanese government have enforced strict hostile conditions that prevent new refugees from entering Lebanon except for having pre-approved surgical operations. Moreover, any Syrian refugee who enters Syria for any reason will not be allowed to come back to Lebanon.

The last two days Lebanon witnessed a severe snow storm which caused the temperature to fall to below (-1 degrees Celsius) and the rain to fall persistently on Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon. Lacking fuel for their stoves and waterproofing materials to keep their tents warm and dry, refugees living in tented settlements across Lebanon face desperate situations. Unfortunately two Syrian children refugees died from the freezing cold yesterday.

The medics cautioned that cases of pneumonia and respiratory problems are expected to rise among Syrian refugees in the absence of heating in harsh winter conditions.

MELM team went to the refugee camps in the Bekaa prior to the storm to provide the much needed holistic relief to the refugees who are deprived of most basic needs in their lives. Many volunteers including some children insisted to help us in the process of carrying and dividing the food in equal rations and gathering them in one package.

During the distribution process, the director referred to a printed list of all families living in the camp, a lengthy process but one which reduces the risk of fraud or of several members of the same family receiving different portions. Each family in the camp received supplies that will help them stay fed during the storm.
